About Ben

Ben Sosniecki is an author from Hermantown, Minnesota.  His interest in writing began at a young age after reading books such as Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls, and other adventurous novels.  He grew up in Chanhassen, Minnesota and graduated from Minnetonka High School in 2005.  Later, Ben attended Vermilion Community College in Ely, Minnesota and graduated with a Liberal Arts Degree in 2007.  He also attended Bemidji State University and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 2009.  He has worked for the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and currently as a Park Maintenance Worker and Certified Arborist for the City of Duluth's Park Maintenance and Forestry Department.

Ben has spent much of his younger life spending weekends on his Grandparents farm in Montevideo, Minnesota.  The farm was a special place for Ben as he was able to work on the land and improve habitat for the surrounding wildlife.  He enjoys hunting pheasants and deer on the farm every year during the fall season.  The prairies of Southwestern Minnesota have always been important to him and have sparked his interest in researching its history and writing books that pertain to the area. His love for nature and the outdoors has also fueled him to write about his own stories and experiences.  Some of his favorite authors include Louis L'Amour, Will Hobbs, Gary Paulson, Sigurd Olson and Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Besides writing, Ben enjoys working on his small hobby farm and playing the guitar.  He lives with his wife Stacy and two boys, Everett and Charlie.
